Despite both not being eligable for Windows Phone 8 Nokia has seen fit to bless both with a new update bringing with it the much-requested Wi-Fi Hotspot

Nokia have today released a Windows Phone 7.5 update for the Nokia Lumia 800 and Lumia 710 enabling Wi-Fi Hotspot and bringing with it the new Camera Extras image editing app.

Letting you act as a Wi-Fi hotspot for up to five other devices, the update brings some other features including flip-to-silence letting you turn your Nokia Lumia face down to silence incoming calls.

Elsewhere there’s Camera Extras a new app which brings with it some powerful image editing functions including Smart Group Shot which takes five quick images of a group of people and then lets you choose each person facial expression from the selection.

Self-timer is now included along with Panorama which uses advanced software to let you easily stitch together a full panorama shot. Finally there’s Contact Share which lets you send and receive business cards over SMS.

The alarm clock. The personal computer. The smartphone. The radio. You know the greatest gadgets of all time (and you’ve probably owned most of them), but which has changed the world more than any other? To make our list of 101, a gadget had to be something you could hold in your hands, mechanical or electronic, and a mass-produced personal item. The rest was up to the judges. Announced during yesterday’s Google I/O keynote speech, the search giant confirmed the Google Play Store now hosts 600,000 Android apps

Edging in on fierce rival Apple, Google has confirmed that the Google Play Store now boasts an impressive 600,000 Android apps and games, making the milestone announcement during yesterday’s Google I/O Keynote speech.

Google’s latest figures show the success of the Play store, formerly known as the Android Market, with the search engine behemoth closing in on bitter rival Apple which claimed to have 650,000 apps in its iTunes based iOS App Store during WWDC 2012 earlier this month.

Having crossed off another milestone, the Play Store’s popularity means that Google has surpassed the 20 billion overall downloads marker with 1.5 billion Android apps being installed to devices every month.

With paid for Android apps being sold in 132 countries and their free counterparts available in a further 58 nations, Google’s app figures are expected to continue their rapid rate of growth with Apple now firmly on the horizon.

What is your favourite Android app currently available through the Google Play Store? Let us know via the T3 Twitter and Facebook feeds.

Los Angeles-based company, Modbook Inc., has finally announced the specifications of its highly-anticipated Modbook Pro tablet-PC. The device will come to the market this year, and it will probably be one of the most powerful tablets in the world.

Years ago, Andreas E. Haas founded Modbook Inc. with the dream of building a high-quality tablet device that would have the power of a capable PC, the built quality and reliability of an Apple MacBook and that would be able to run Apple’s operating system.

Back in 2008, Modbook Inc. went public and just ten days later Lehman Brothers went bankrupt, thus proving that the American government allowed financial companies to run rampant with no regard to the U.S. citizens’ well-being.

The financial crisis hit the company very hard, and after years of work and restructuring, Modbook Inc. is now able to present the first information on the long-awaited Modbook Pro tablet computing device.

Our users should know that the Modbook concept was presented years before Apple launched the first iPad, and that it was the first vision of an iOS-powered tablet-PC-like device.

Today’s Modbook Pro tablet will encapsulate the original hardware inside the latest model of Apple’s MacBook Pro 13.3”, but all will be in the tablet form.

Modbook’s impressive tablet will ship with a Wacom digitizer pen that delivers 512 levels of pen pressure sensitivity that the company claims is more than any other tablet computer on the market can offer.

The ForceGlass screen will provide an etched, paper-emulating drawing surface on the 13.3” screen, featuring a 1280 by 800 pixel resolution.

We’re already used with FullHD screens on 10” tablets, but we’re going to let this one slide, as Modbook’s uniqueness resides in many different innovations and not an increased screen resolution.

The initial hardware configuration will include an Intel Core i5 processor running at 2500 MHz with up to 16 GB of RAM memory, and a 2.5” 1TB HDD or a 960 GB SSD.

There is also a SuperDrive DVD burner along with one Gigabit Ethernet port, one FireWire 800 port, one USB 3.0 port, one Thunderbolt connector, an SDXC card slot, and one combo audio connector, just like the original Apple MacBook Pro.

The secret of the Modbook Pro tablet is the fact that the company practically takes an original Apple MacBook Pro apart and sticks it into a custom-made tablet enclosure.

Apple’s original warranty is thus now void, but Modbook Inc. will issue a new warranty for the Modbook Pro tablet.

Using Apple’s BootCamp, Modbook Pro tablet owners will be able to install Microsoft’s Windows 7 operating system.

The Modbook Pro tablet is a device targeting drawing and CAD professionals, or simply tablet and Apple enthusiasts that are willing to pay a considerable premium price over the already high price of the MacBook Pro.

Pricing is yet to be announced, but we’re curious how well Modbook’s interesting idea will sell.

First I need to call your attention to the tiny white rectangle in the upper left quadrant of the above picture… That’s an iPhone, and the rest of the picture is the speaker dock. Yes, I agree, a picture that included a small car might have brought the whole size thing into a bit more focus, but we work with what we have. Suffice it to say, this thing is huge.

This enormous speaker system measures a ridiculous 8 feet wide by 4 feet tall and weighs in at more than 700 pounds. This steroidal system offers up a deaf defying (yes, that was on purpose) 10,000 Watts and over 130 decibels of mind numbing, chest thumping power. The threshold of pain comes it at around 120 decibels, just thought you should know.

The dock comes equipped with a 30-pin connector on top of the unit that allows you to connect your iPhone or iPod touch and, luckily, in case there isn’t enough room to connect your iDevice, the speaker also has Bluetooth connectivity in order to play your audio selections wirelessly from any iPhone, iPod touch or most other Bluetooth compatible devices.

Look inside this gigantic monster dock and you will find a 3-way system with two 18-inch sub-woofers, dual neodymium mid-range woofers, and two titanium-diaphragm compression drivers for pumping out the high notes (think glass breaking). Look closer, and you’ll see me living in it, with a $30,000 price tag I’ll have no choice. While not yet listed on the Behringer website, it is technically available… I may need to wait for the iNuke Boom 2… maybe the prices will come down a bit.
